A Major Shift Is Underway

The Municipality of Meaford has officially begun rolling out a phased short-term rental regulation program that will lead to full licensing and enforcement by 2028.

Phase 1 (2026): STR Registry

Owners are now encouraged to register their property through the new STR registry.

What You Need to Submit:

  • Application form
  • Fire safety plan
  • Parking management plan
  • Owner code of conduct
  • Solemn declaration
  • $50 fee

Why This Matters

Registering now gives you:

  • priority access to future licensing
  • early compliance positioning
  • visibility into upcoming changes

What’s Coming Next

  • 2027: formal licensing framework development
  • 2028: licensing + enforcement begins

Key Considerations for Owners

  • Zoning compliance still applies today
  • occupancy and bedroom limits remain regulated
  • fire and safety compliance is critical

The Strategic Move

Smart owners are not waiting.

They are:

  • registering early
  • aligning operations now
  • preparing for licensing before it becomes mandatory
